New Fantasy Pesis rules
Starting on 28th June the new rules and scoring will apply. I am still trying to work out how this game will be played on the internet, but you can always keep your own score or message me with your lineup to be part of our testing team.
1. Starting lineup
Pick 12 players for your starting lineup. 1 player must be a pitcher, 4 players must be infielders (1st basemen, 2nd basemen, 3rd basemen and catchers), 2 players must be shortstops, 2 players must be outfielders and 3 players must be jokers.
2. Substitutes
You can choose up to 3 players to act as substitutes if a player from your starting lineup does not play any games for their team during the week (for example if they are injured). A substitute can play in any fielding position. A joker cannot be substituted by another player unless they are also a joker. The substitute with the highest points scored that week will be the first choice to be substituted in the event that a player in the starting lineup does not play.
3. Final lineup rulesA starting lineup has a maximum of 15 players (including 3 substitutes) and must be set before the start of the Monday game.
Your lineup can only have a maximum of 3 players from the same team. If a player swaps teams during the week, this will NOT mean that your lineup is illegal if the change means that you have more than 3 players from the same team.
4. Scoring points (batting and running)
Points are scored for each player as follows:
6 points for a HR (plus other points for a “run” and “successful hit”)
6 points for RBI (plus other points for a “successful hit”)
6 points for a run
2 points for successfully moving the point runner
1 point for successfully moving a non-point runner
2 points for every base advanced as a point runner
1 point for every base advanced as a non-point runner
-2 for an out as a point runner
-1 for an out as a non-point runner
-1 for causing an out whilst at bat
5. Scoring points (fielding)
Fielding stats are not currently recorded on the official statistics of games, although I am hoping that they will be included at some point in the future. Until then, I have devised my own way of awarding fantasy points for a team’s fielding performance. These are in 2 categories: ERA points (Points for Earned Runs) and 3BPts (3rd base situation points).
ERA Points are earned for every run under 10 runs allowed in a single game. Basically, the team gets 10 points minus the number of runs conceded. For example, if the fielding team concedes 1 run in a game, they get 9 points. If the fielding team concedes more than 10 runs, then they are awarded negative points.
3BPts are awarded for each 3rd base situation that the fielding team successfully defends. For example, if the batting team is 1/4 with runners on 3rd base, the fielding team is awarded 3 points.
Only players who have fielding positions in the game will score fielding points. If a player is in your lineup as (for example) an Infielder, but is a joker in a game, they will not score any fielding points for that game.
6. Special scoring rules
Jokers batting and running points are doubled. The Pitcher’s ERA and 3rd base points are doubled.
Old rules no longer in use
MVP points - The MVP points system was too random to include in the system.
