Jere Dahlström returns to Koskenkorva

Will Dahlström guide KoU out of the battle to avoid relegation The fortunes to Koskenkorva and Jere Dahlström couldn’t be more different in 2020: KoU struggled to keep their heads above the water and looked like contenders for relegation (if there had been relegation last year), whereas Dahlström helped guide KPL to the finals and win another silver medal to add to his collection. Questions about whether Dahlström was hanging up his boots and calling an end to his career were answered last week with the news that he would be returning to Koskenkorva for 2021. In this article I pose the question - will Dahlström save Koskenkorva from relegation this year? Dahlström’s career Anybody who has followed pesis will know the name Jere Dahlström and how he has dominated as a batter over the years. The experience held by Dahlström is immense, with over 1400 RBIs and close to 3000 successful hits than successful hits across 20 seasons in Superpesis. Dahlström has a solid collection of m...

Hyvinkää storm back into the top 8 with key wins over IPV and KPL There was one result last week that changed as a result of an ineligible player. This has a significant impact on teams at the top and bottom of the performance rankings, so I have had to apply a bit of thought to how to deal with the Siilinjärvi v Koskenkorva result... 1st Hyvinkään Tahko Hyvinkää needed a big performance to lift themselves up into the playoff spots and last week they certainly got that. With 2 wins from 2 games, scoring 5 out of a possible 6 points, this was a solid week for Tahko - especially when you realise that one win came against KPL. Pihkala is known for its run scoring potential and so far this season Hyvinkää had struggled to stop their opponents exploiting this and have the most runs conceded in the league. Last week however they managed to power past both KPL and IPV with Juha Korhonen’s 7 RBI against IPV and Teemu Nikkanen’s perfect 8/8 at moving the point runner, including 4 RBI agains...

The tale of two Koskenkorva

How times have changed... Koskenkorva are playing well, but it wasn’t alway that way What kind of season has it been for Koskenkorva? “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...” or should that be the other way round when it comes to Koskenkorva? For a team that sat in 14th place week after week at the beginning of the season, with a troubling 0 points scored, the season seems to have taken an unexpected turn for KoU, who now sit at 8th in the league and are causing problems for big teams. ... the worst of times The start of the season was a disaster for Koskenkorva with 0 points in 5 games, despite having amongst their ranks the league leader in RBI and July’s player of the month - Patrik Wahlsten. The outfield was leaking runs like a sieve and Wahlsten seemed to be the only player who could generate runs. The fortunes changed in a close run game against newly promoted Manse, and a 2 point win finally broke the back of their scoreless season. The best of times... Af...

Koskenkorvan Urheilijat v Kempeleen Kiri   2-0 (5-4, 3-1) The fortunes of these two teams have been very different at the start of this season; Kempele started the season with a remarkable win over Sotkamo, followed up with a string of high-offence games. Koskenkorva on the other hand have had little to show for their star player’s success at bat, even Patrik Wahlsten couldn’t get KoU a point until their 6th game of the season. Both teams however have seen plenty of runs scored in their games, both for and against. Koskenkorva are in fine form going into this game, having started to pick up points. The matchup historically favours Koskenkorva as well, with Kempele only winning 1 of the last 5 meetings, which was at the beginning of this season. Kempele had been reeling in the points recently, with 3 wins out of the last 4 games. Considering both teams have powerful offences this year, Kempele wasted no time in putting runs on the board. In the first inning of the game, Marko P...
