Manse claim victory in the last of 4 games this season against KPL Kouvolan Pallonlyöjat v Manse PP, Tampere 1-2s (6-3, 3-5, 0-1) KPL have been struggling to keep pace with the other teams in the top 4 and were left deflated after their 2-0 loss to Vimpeli where they failed to score a single run. Manse lie on the very edge of the playoff race, although in reality it is not a realistic outcome for the team. The matchup between the 2 teams is an interesting one and Manse have proven to be a worthy opponent; whilst KPL have been victorious on each of the 3 games in the regular season (and the Halli-SM game in February), Manse have not been beaten comprehensively and have only handed KPL 3 points once. The game saw an unexpected but much anticipated return of Toni Kohonen to the role of pitcher. Kohonen has been a phenomenal pitcher in his career and has led Kitee and Sotkamo to greatness, filling heir trophy cabinets as a result. The first jakso started with a strong presence from KP

Vimpeli blank KPL to show that they are a force to be reckoned with As the chances to make it into the top 8 are running out for most teams, it’s time to get to make a final push for the end of the season. Here are last week’s performance rankings: 1st Vimpelin Veto Vimpeli have been an interesting project to watch this season and the pieces have been coming together for some time. Despite some losses to teams like Kankaanpää, which have been tough to explain, Vimpeli proved that they are the full package and are capable of anything this season when they beat KPL 2-0 at home and stopped KPL from scoring in the entire game. Perttu Ruuska is performing extremely well at the plate and as a pitcher. Vimpeli’s explosive offence has left teams on the back foot against a very challenging defence. The only question that remains is how will they perform against Joensuun, who they won’t face in the regular season. 2nd Kiteen Pallo-90 Kitee continue to be the most exciting development for 2

A game of 2 halves sees a mix of both excellent and disastrous fielding for both teams Hyvinkään Tahko v Vimpelin Veto 0-2 (0-6, 3-4) Hyvinkää have been building on their performances since the return of Juha Korhonen after an injury sidelined him for a couple of weeks. The comeback comes at the critical moment in the season when teams are jostling for position before the end of the season in just 2 weeks time. Vimpeli have continued to show flashes of brilliance this season, but there are occasions in matches where the game has slipped away from them. In the first jakso, Hyvinkää came to bat swinging, but finding nothing but Vimpeli shirts. It seemed every gap on the pitch was shut down and all of a sudden Pihkala seemed very small - that is, of course, until Vimpeli came to the plate. With the bases loaded, a bunt hit was fielded and thrown by Hyvinkää’s 1st baseman, only for the throw to 3rd go over the 3rd baseman’s head and scamper off for 2 runs. With runs on the board alrea
